Amigos, Acquisitions, and Invitations

An unordered list of unrelated things for you, dear reader, to keep in mind today:

If you are in search of a movie to watch with your beautiful wife on a Wednesday night, you could do a lot worse than ¡Three Amigos! I’m amazed how well 8th-grade potty humor holds up after 23 years.

Lucky, Dusty, and Ned

Lucky, Dusty, and Ned

“Ka! Ka! Ka! Hey! Hoo! You! Hoo! Look! Look! Whippoorwill! Whippoorwill! Look up here! Look up here!”

Hmm. Maybe it’s just holding up for me.

By the way, what happened to Martin Short? SCTV, SNL, Amigos, Three Fugitives, etc. He used to be great. Now, he’s… not.

Secondly, if your 1,200-person employer is ever bought for, say 1.8 billion dollars, it does NOT mean that you are personally worth 1.5 million dollars. Even though 1.8 billion divided by 1,200 does equal 1.5 million, that amount is not transferred to you—the individual—in any way.

What will they call it now?

What will they call it now?

I checked.

Bummer, right? I gotta say it, Adobe. So far, so disappointing.

A delicious stack of Holly's handmade goodness.

Ok, next item. If you’ve been looking for a chance to lounge your Friday away in a park, surrounded by lovely creative ladies, lazily spending your spouse’s paycheck on handmade goods and baked treats, well then. Look. No. Further.

Get yourself to the Rock Canyon Park upper pavillion this Friday (September 18th) from 10 am to 7:30 pm. I believe they are calling the event Clean Sweep. Not sure why. If you do attend, be sure to say hello to Holly (after ooo-ing and ahh-ing her fantastic handiwork).

Lastly, and—let’s be honest—most importantly, keep in mind that you have no business turning down a free handmade apple-print little-girl apron. Ever.

Not even you, Martin Short.

  1. Binh Nguyen

I have to say that I don’t care much for bloggers but I’m fascinated by your’s and your writing skills and creativity. You post interesting stuff, keep up the good work.

  2. Holly

Thanks Binh. I think Dave is a great writer, but of course I’m a bit biased!

And I have to say that I don’t think I’ve watched The Three Amigos is probably 20 years and it’s still a funny movie. I think it’s a toss up between Martin Short’s explanation of “infamous” and The Singing Bush as to which is my favorite part.

  3. David

Wow. Thanks, Binh. Between you and me, I don’t care too much for bloggers either. It’s the smell.

  4. Sarah

Shut uuuuppp Daaave! (annoying little sister voice). I don’t smell -you smell!

What? You weren’t talking about me personally?
Sorry. Force of habit I guess.

    PS -Three Amigos rocks.
