One More Thing To Do

I got my quilt back (hooray!) and now I just have to bind it (meh).

When I spread it out on the floor after getting it back, Olive promptly sat on it, pointed to different parts of it, and jabbered on and on about something (probably about how rad it is).

I think I love this picture so much because I love her chubby little dimpled hands. Why do they have to grow up so fast?

Around Our House at Christmastime

I finally finished my yarn ball wreath!  Now that I’m looking at the picture though, I can see a few more spots that need another ball or two but I think I’ll just leave it as is. It’s only bugging me in the picture anyway.

This is where I found the tutorial.

I bought a bunch of snowflake ornaments from Target, only 3/$1! One night I strung them together and persuaded Dave to help me hang them up, in which he did most of the work. I love what it adds to the room, but unfortunately doesn’t quite translate to pictures very well.

I got this grapevine tree at Hobby Lobby the other day for 50% off. It wasn’t in the Christmas section, but with all the other grapevine items instead. It was only $3.50 and I LOVE it. In fact I went back the next day and bought the last one for my mom.

I got this pom pom garland from Tai Pan Trading about a month ago. I think it was only $5.97 and I wish I had bought more of them. I’ve been meaning to go back to see if they have more, but I just haven’t made it yet because just the thought of going to the mall exhausts me! The imperfect and wonky pom poms are what make me love it so much.

I love our Christmas decorations. Now I just need people over so they can actually be seen.

So who wants to come over and hang out?

Attempting (what seems like) the Impossible

The other day I tried to take some pictures of the girls for our Christmas cards. It was not easy.

For one thing, Olive does not like to be still for any amount of time.

Sometimes one of the girls decides to pull a little attitude, which inevitably rubs off on the other.

Like I said before, not much can keep this toddler down. Plus, she decided to fall and hit her forehead on the bookshelf right before out little photo session. It was great timing!

Then if one girl sees something shiny, they all have to check it out. Distracted much?

And finally in the end, after about 50 pictures, there are only a handful that actually work. But the ones that turn out like this are by far my favorites.

It’s Almost Time

I totally bought myself an early Christmas present. I could have waited and asked Dave to get it for me, but that just seemed like too much of a hassle. I don’t buy myself a lot of presents, so I felt justified in getting this one for myself. And I don’t think I’m alone when it comes to buying oneself something around the holidays. Right?

It’s a 1000 piece puzzle of this statue that I have.

I love to do puzzles, especially around the holidays, so I’m planning on busting this 1000 pieced bad boy out that last week before Christmas. I’m a little addicted to puzzles. I just wish I had more time to do them before the little hands come and try to grab puzzle pieces off the table.

These are our Christmas/winter scene puzzles that come out every year.

I’m really looking forward to slowing down later this month and getting a few of these put together. It’s especially nice after the girls are in bed to put on a good movie, have some hot chocolate and a treat (or three) and relax with Dave. I should make an advent calendar for that!

My Name is Olive

…and I have a new hat. My mom especially likes the fact that I can’t pull it off my head in these frigid Utah temps.

New Acquisitions

These are my newest and favorite Christmas decorations (as of today).

More Reasons (Like I Need Any)

Two more products I found that reaffirm my love for all things Martha.

From the Martha Stewart Holidays line, baker’s twine and designer paper (I’m a total sucker for Scandinavian design and can’t ever pass it up).

Both found at Michael’s.
